The mid-winter holidays were among the most festive of those in Gustavus for a long time. A lovely Christmas program was given at the chapel, sponsored by Mrs Violet Christopherson, pastor of the chapel there was also caroling by the young folks and many festive parties given during the holiday season. A most happy time, indeed.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles DeBoer have gone on a tour of Europe for the holidays. They planned to be in Nome on Christmas Day and then to Germany and other points of interest before returning home. Their brother, Charles White, and his wife, also touring Europe will go to Jerusalem before returning home, and we are also told that Ruby and Dick Pierce who some years ago lived in Gustavus are also going to Jerusalem for the Christmas season.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Howe have gone to the Souci and the San Juan Islands to spend the rest of the winter. Bob, before his retirement was superintendent of the Glacier Bay National Park and the Sitka National Monument.

Mr. and Mrs. Ken Youmans entertained at a three table-card party of pinochle on Thursday Dec. 29. After an evening of much fun at their favorite game delicious refreshments were served at a late hour.

John Rose, elder son of the Rose family who is attending college at Sewani, returned to Gustavus for the holidays but has now returned to resume his scholastic work. He finds the studies there all most interesting.

Mr and Mrs. Van Baker and little son Lee have gone to Florida for an extended visit with relatives.  They expect to return home in about three months.

Mr and Mrs. Bob Wakefield left early in December for Arizona to spend Bob's vacation there. Their son Jim, newly out of the Army, was to be married and Bob's parents left here to be there for the occasion.
