Missionary Group Visits Locals; Wagon Frolic, Gustavus, Alaska.

Visiting church group on wagon pulled by Parker Fordson tractor. Lead "scout" with gun likely in response to brown bear problem plaguing the homesteaders and their cattle. Click on title for more...

Photo is looking East towards the mountains before airport was built.

The tractor and wagon full of "good-timers" are on the West side of  the second built Salmon River Bridge turning North towards Lee and Linda Parkers' home today. How close and majestic the mountains look when there are so few trees!

Identified in the wagon are "Brother" Ralph Baker (with gun) and Mrs. Baker (plaid coat),  Jeanette "Jeannie" Parker (dark curly hair) hanging on to board. Nell Crowell (Parker) (with white hat and white coat) and her sister Mary Louise Crowell (holding her knees). Alberta Parker is in front of Nell Parker. The older lady is Mrs. Baker's mother, Mrs. Newsham (sp?) with grandaughter Stella Baker. Glen Parker, in center back.

The rest of the occupants are unknown but are seen in other GHAA photos with the visiting missionary groups.
