"The Family Swing" Abraham Parker Homestead, Gustavus, Alaska.

This large wooden swing located NW of house in the spruce & cottonwood trees. A favorite among grandkids and adults alike. A perfect place for hours of entertainment & song. Click for identifications and more...

Swing made by Abraham Parker for his family to enjoy. It suspends from a long horizontal wood beam firmly attached to trunks of trees. Family members (in later years) would frequently recount their memories of  relaxing moments stolen in the shade, a respite from chores and long hours of back-breaking garden work. Impromptu entertainment would occur whenever Abraham or one of his sons picked up a guitar.

Pictured from left: Abraham (with beard and his beloved guitar), Eugene (Gene) Chase age 11( behind Abraham), Edith A. Parker behind Gene, unidentified small person behind and looking around Abraham.

On bench swing Lt to Rt: Leslie " Les" Parker, Henrietta White age 15, small child (Ed White?), Gloria White age 11, woman believed to be Jennie Parker, Dorothy White age 9 on lap, Charles White (standing) age 13, and "Uncle" Pearl Haynes (Edith Parkers' brother) sitting on end chair.

This photo was found in a packet of Uncle Pearls important documents and favorite things.
